Ro Geddes Solo Exhibition
Opening night - Thursday the 22nd of September
6pm - 9pm
Leaving behind a career in Civil Engineering, Ro is a 28 year old Sydney local who now embraces his long time passion and hobby of art. Ro has been drawing since the day he could hold a pencil and has developed a delicate control of the charcoal medium despite no formal training outside of high school art classes.
Preferring to work on a larger scale, Ro strives for accuracy in character, meticulously seeking to capture detail and texture through delicate manipulation of his charcoal application techniques.
The subject of his work is unmistakable and in places manages to echo striking detail through simple lines and gestures. His depiction of liquids in motion takes on an engaging blend of realism and abstraction, with fluidity in some areas expressed through warped geometric shapes.
Drawn To Water is Ro's first solo exhibition and showcases his affinity to the human form as well as his intrigue with the properties of liquids. The exhibition explores the dynamism, reflection and transparency of water, as well as the way humans respond and interact with it.
From swirling a glass of wine to gazing at the majesty of the ocean, the exhibition looks at the interface between humans and water, while playing on the fact that we are mostly comprised of water ourselves.
Exhibition open Friday the 23rd to Sunday the 25th of September
12pm - 7pm
