SHOW ME is Mia Rankin’s first solo exhibition of photographic and mixed media work.
The work begins by situating itself in the conflict between the desire to not conform and the skepticism of not understanding underlying gender roles.
Captured is intimate and emotional perceptions of young men seeking individualisation, existing in a place where ignorance is not a manifestation of fear and empathy crosses boundaries.
References to a mid 20th century military attire is a nod to a reconstruction of history where relationships are built from empathy, compassion, fearless openness and where mateship could also be an uninhibited physical act.
Mia is currently completing her Master of Art at The NSW School of Art & Design.
