Opening night 14th March 6-9pm
Exhibition runs until the 20th March
The Fin Collection is proud to present VIOLENT HARMONIES by Jess Bush, aka OneJessa.
VIOLENT HARMONIES will be Bush's first solo art exhibition with all mixed media works for sale throughout the duration of the show and online at thefincollection.com thereafter.
VIOLENT HARMONIES is centred around the uniquely human attribute of self-consciousness and the impacts this has on the way we relate to our external environment. Bush’s opulent, mixed media assemblages, which traverse gallery and public mural formats, come from self taught analysis of foreign mediums producing intimate yet confronting and beautiful mixed media imagery.
VIOLENT HARMONIES is the culmination of 14 months’ work that is both a 'celebration of our indissoluble connection to land, and an exploration of our immense destructive and creative power as stewards of this planet. The work raises questions surrounding societal constructs and institutions such as value, religion and social hierarchy and how these drive us to exploit and disconnect from the natural world.' - Jess Bush
Jess Bush, now self-taught artist, is also an actress, writer and performer with her large scale installations seen everywhere from murals in Telstra TVC’s to rooftops in Sydney's most popular suburbs. Starting her painting career at the tender age of 15, Bush learnt the craft for herself which sees her pushing the boundaries of her mind in a way that is not bound by the constraints of formal education practices. 'I personally find that discovering things without the guidance of others is most exciting and yields the most interesting results. Feeling your way through a foreign medium, burning yourself or ruining things on the way to understanding a new tool, I have found, makes that understanding far more intimate.' Bush's work appears on public walls around Australia and the United States, and is held in private collections all around the world.
