Three young Sydney artists are exhibiting the accumulation of a years’ worth of work across a variety of disciplines including painting, drawing, and printmaking. All artists have been exposed to traditional art training while also pursuing an experimental art practice. Their use of recycled materials is a way to avoid growing sentimental towards their work and move forward with their practice.
Lewis Ihnatko is a multidisciplinary artist who creates drawings, paintings and digital work that is both highbrow and lowbrow by combining absurdist cartoons and surrealism with the traditions of western art.
Rosemary Lee's prints are based on composed still lifes and the figure. Her surrounding subjects are arranged based on an immediate aesthetic impact that aims to fulfill her own visual interests and to resonate their appeal to the viewer.
Oscar Sulich’s intuitive and vibrant use of colours in his paintings depicts energetic, tranquil and intimate scenes of Sydney and its inhabitants that reflect his experience of living in Darlinghurst.
