Meg White Solo Exhibition
Opening night - Thursday the 4th of April
6 - 9 pm
Fractures is a series born from a solo road trip from Perth to Darwin in the winter of 2013. During these travels, Meg became fascinated by the ecosystem of carrion birds and animal carcasses that would inhabit the fringe along our bitumen highways.
Photographing the carcasses in fragments and later reassembling them was an instinctive response to this subject matter. Struck by their macabre beauty and driven by an inherent zoological interest in their physical structure and process of their decay, Meg sought to celebrate the form of each animal in this roadside environment.
By reassembling these fractured animals in various states of decay, one is forced to focus on details of the carcass and the life it once held, extending the gaze beyond the fleeting view of a car window.
Meg is a cinematographer and photographer based in Sydney and LA.
Her first solo photography exhibition was 'And I Thought I Was Dreaming' in 2016. 'Fractures' shall be her second solo exhibition, closely followed by her third 'LoveSick' to open in later April 2019.
