Coogee artist Julius Malkin has announced an exhibition of new works in Sydney at M2 Gallery from 26 February to 3 March 2020.
South African born Malkin trained at Cape Town Visual Arts Research Centre and London’s St Martins School of Art and has exhibited previously in Cape Town, London, Brighton, France and in Sydney.
His new show will bring together a body of abstract work in various types of acrylic-based paint on canvas. These works were painted in Sydney between 2009 and 2019. Malkin said, “The works are inspired by the Coogee coastline and the Australian landscape and with the climate-induced catastrophic fires this summer reminds one of what we have to lose in the face of climate change”. Some of the works are on a very large scale.
“Julius’ sensuous colour combinations and the play of light and shadow create rich delicious landscapes at once serene yet in constant movement” Linda Bowden, Sculptor.
The exhibition will be open every day from 11.00 am to 7.00 pm
Opening night 26th of February 6 -9 pm
