Art and Photography by Alex Crowfoot
Celebrating 25 years since he began using the name ollo and 21 years since the release of the debut ollo album, this is both a debut and a retrospective.
The show features one-off prints of photography and artwork made for ollo record sleeves. Most of these pieces have never been seen before in this form and very much stand alone as individual works. The level of conceptual thinking in these images reveal a depth that most likely went unnoticed at the time, with techniques including pinhole camera, silver gelatin photograms, film photography, overhead transparencies, photo collage and multiple passes between analogue and digital media to achieve a particular texture.
Also in the show are stills from video work that accompanied ollo from the very first live performance onwards and some new large scale abstract works that examine our innate drive to capture a moment, perhaps a stronger instinct than ever in times of great change.
All proceeds after costs will go towards Motor Neurone Disease Research Australia for a donation in memory of Crowfoot's mum.
