KATACA is an organisation formed with the aim of creating a collaborative network of artists currently working to share Korean culture within Australia, and to raise the next generation with the common goal.
The exhibition will feature jogakbo-Korean traditional patch-art by Taerim Jeon and ceramics by Woochang Kim. The exhibition will feature ceramics made using Australian and Korean soil and sculptural boards made by dyeing fabric with each soil, along with other representative works.
The theme of the exhibition is ’Soil‘, the source of life, and the works reflect our lives as Korean-Australian.
Taerim Claire Jeon is a Sydney based Jogakbo artist who strongly identifies with her Korean heritage. She has spent more than 10 years re-interpreting traditional methods and exploring new forms of Jogakbo practices. Her artworks have been exhibited in several organisations including the Australian Design Centre, 10 YEARS KAAF(Korea-Australia Arts Foundation at Korean Cultural Centre Australia) and the Murray Art Museum Albury.
Woochang Kim is a contemporary artist of ceramics living and teaching in Sydney Australia. In his 19 years as a ceramic artist, Kim woochang has mastered both traditional and creative techniques of ceramics. Kimwoochang endeavours to capture human emotions and expressions through his ceramics.
