Purring Art -
Opening - Thursday the 8th of May - 6 - 9pm
These uniquely original soft sculptures by Lola Kaplan are supported by Liza Kaplan’s painting in this first creative collaboration of two distinctly imaginative Sydney artists.
Lola Kaplan has been successfully developing her unique style of soft sculpture over the past several years. Drawing upon her classical art training Lola’s painted sculptures fuse together folk influences in a soft sense of humour. Each piece is a distinctive, ‘Kaplanesque’ vision of the interaction between the world of dreams, the world of reality and the world where humans, animals and forces of nature all meld. The distinctive feature in Lola’s works is reflection on woman’s dreaming. Every piece is both playful and thought provoking, balancing internal harmony with a natural world. Lola’s works are represented in a growing number of private collections in Australia. She has started making a name for herself overseas with interest and commissions coming from the United States and New Zealand.
Liza Kaplan’s art encompasses a soft reflection and love of the animals around us, animals that make a part of our everyday lives. Liza studies painting at the National Art School followed by design study at the Enmore Tafe. Liza is making a name for herself with a number of exhibitions in Sydney and Brisbane.
Show will run until Wednesday the 14th of May.
