Alex Ruby is a 22 year old visual artist originally from Los Angeles CA. Since studying at the San Francisco Art Institute two years ago, he has uprooted himself and now resides in Sydney. Critical, political, and satirical ideologies permeate Ruby's work, retaining an innocent and yet completely direct approach to politically charged subject matter.

Western colonial domination has been and will continue to be a prescient global issue. The consequent effects have not only altered social landscapes, but have caused their extinction. The paintings in "Free Candy" seek to investigate the effects of western colonialism and philosophies encroaching on indigenous cultures.
